Amarone d'Arte Families: the new president Marilisa Allegrini has been elected
The association Amarone d'Arte Families has chosen Marilisa Allegrini to succeed Sandro Boscaini.
The now former president, commented, "Everything seems to be fine for Amarone, but the historical producers are worried: with the progressive increase of quantity there is also a debasement of price and positioning. Amarone Families have realized that as early as 2009, when they gathered to demand respect for the flag product of the Veneto region and to cry havoc. I feel honored of having been president of this group and to have raised the issue of the identity and the respect of Amarone, while making the world know about authentic expressions of the tradition of the Valpolicella area. I leave time for a proper rotation in an association in which committed producers believe, protect and promote their products as a value and as towing of our wine. ".
The new president of the association, Marilisa Allegrini, has accepted the new position stating:
"It is a honor for me to accept the Presidency of the Amarone d'Arte Families. The hope is that my mandate, in continuity with the work done by my predecessor Sandro Boscaini, whom I thank, strengthens and enhances the role of our association. If Valpolicella has, in recent years, reached with its wines and in particular with Amarone the highest levels of international wine, it is thanks to the commitment and intelligence of many different production companies united in the Amarone d'Arte Families and its dogma of excellence. Alongside its successes some difficulties and contradictions emerge, that we are not hiding, such as the risk that the Amarone wine, from wine fruit of estates of high hilly vocation, will experience, because of a non-credible expectation of easier profits, a damaging massification that will affect the quality levels. ".
To defend Amarone, common good of Valpolicella and of the Italian wine world, we need to give new breath to comparisons among all actors in the production, counting on a climate of total availability, but that should have clear the urgency of quick and unambiguous decisions. Furthermore, I would like to recall that one of the initiatives undertaken by the Families, I would like to consider it as a "gift" to the city of Verona: it is the acquisition of the historic place La Bottega Del Vino, a very rare example of collective effort to safeguard a heritage, before all of cultural-historical value. It would be nice - the president-elect of the association concluded - to start from there, winemakers, restaurants of Verona, hotel hospitality, to discuss how, all together, we can raise the profile of hospitality in a city that must, in a concrete way, know how to fly high. ".
