MANEUVER AND QATARGATE: BOTTEGA (PROSECCO), 'MADE IN ITALY NEEDS HONEST AND RELIABLE POLITICIANS'

«We need a political class that is credible, that doesn't make laws that facilitate corruption and tax evasion and that restores to Italy the reputation that so many Italians had to build because other Italians had damaged it. The front pages of these days are giving an image of Italians (and of the Italian Job) which seriously damages the reputation of the whole nation and of our economy and the responsibility of politicians is so high and the damage so great that I believe that these people must immediately be expelled from Parliament (nothing but immunity!) and cannot stand for re-election until possible acquittal after the third degree of judgement". This was declared by Sandro Bottega, owner of the homonymous company in Bibano (Treviso), one of the main producers of Italian wine and spirits and creator of the "Prosecco Bars" which are depopulating all over the world. «I remember that when I was twenty, about forty years ago, I started going abroad to sell grappa and prosecco and I was accused, as an Italian, of not being trustworthy and even of being a mafia member: more than products, I I had to earn a reputation to be able to offer them. The importers - continues Bottega - knew that part of Italy that had emigrated to their country (USA, Canada, Australia and Germany in primis) which had not always given a good image of itself, an image confirmed by what was happening in Italy: these were the times of massacres, kidnappings, public debt, Craxi and the CAF. Promoting a product, especially an Italian one, is promoting a nation and if everyone in that nation creates quality products, if there are no scandals, if it wins the European Championships or the World Cup, all together there is a spirit of uniqueness which makes our economy and our products are perceived as the best. And if they really are, the strength we get from them is the bearer of well-being for entire generations. Think of the Italians who built our beauties, from Rome to Venice: with their intelligence and stubbornness, they have given wealth to all Italians for centuries and happiness to tourists from all over the world», concluded Sandro Bottega.
