Angelo Gaja commented: «Until the early 80s, Italian wine has suffered from the consideration of "cheap and simple", and finely crafted Italian wines were almost unknown in export markets.
One of my goals has always been to demonstrate Italy’s capacity to produce elegant wines like Barbaresco, and to confirm the role of Italy as a leader in the production of wines that perfectly match with food».
Wine Enthusiast emphasizes that: «Today, the Gaja family also owns estates in Tuscany, in which it produces Brunello di Montalcino with Pieve di Santa Restituta, and in Bolgheri, with the Cà Marcanda winery. But wine is more than a family business, it is also a way of life».
