“Let's cultivate social agriculture”: a Piedmontese company from Cuneo is among the winners

At Palazzo della Valle in Rome, the award ceremony for the winners of the seventh edition of the " Coltiviamo Agricoltura Sociale " competition, organized by Confagricoltura, Senior L'età della Saggezza Onlus and Reale Foundation , in collaboration with the Rete Fattorie Sociali and the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

An initiative strongly desired by Confagricoltura and which demonstrates how agriculture is also capable of undertaking innovative paths, of social redemption and welfare for the most fragile sections of the population, as well as being the primary sector.

" Without losing their economic and entrepreneurial dimension, companies that practice social agriculture underline the ethical dimension of business. An intuition that continues to bear fruit and an example of sustainability to be imitated " says the president of Confagricoltura Piemonte Enrico Allasia which once again can boast of having a virtuous company in the Region: this is the case of the Azienda Agricola La Fattoria di Bubu and Mini of Bene Vagienna in the province of Cuneo , awarded today.

The Fili d'Erba project involves a space where, in addition to agricultural activities, there are also activities aimed at children and young people with psycho-social problems, disabilities, or coming from difficult families. In fact, a regenerative environment has been created to make these fragile children and young people flourish and grow through nature and the care of plants and animals. Within the 4500 m2 of the farm, a sensory garden has been created with medicinal and aromatic herbs, within which to start guided knowledge tours. In a two-level pond, one of which is knee-deep in water for children, colorful COI carp are bred and children can catch and feed them. All the routes are designed in a rounded shape, to be as far away, even visually, from the hospital wards. A space is dedicated to guinea pigs and Nostrane di Morozzo hens are raised. Everything is carefully designed to instill greater security, knowledge as well as possible job placement in the production of natural cosmetics.

Two other projects were awarded the 2022 edition of " Coltiviamo Agricoltura Sociale " with 40,000 euros and a scholarship each for the "Master of Social Agriculture" at the University of Rome Tor Vergata:

- Archaeological Park of Pompeii, history of a rebirth - Di Landro Francesco farm (Naples - Salerno)

- The Therapeutic Garden of Lu – Mirai Farm (Cagliari).

The special prize of 20,000 euros, included in favor of social cooperatives that deal with the management and redevelopment of public green areas, went to "Giardino in Movimento" - Agricultural Social Cooperative Pane e Signore, of Genoa.
