LAUGHING A SMILE AT THE VENETIAN PLAINS SO MUCH 207 MUNICIPALITIES ACTIVATED FOR MORE THAN 26000 PLANTS

A barrage of adhesions to the initiative of the Region and Veneto Agriculture " Let's smile back to the Po Valley ", which provides for the distribution of 70,000 trees and shrubs to the Veneto municipalities of the plains which, in turn, will deliver to their citizens who have requested them . A few numbers are enough to understand the success of the project: to date the applications of 207 municipal administrations have reached the offices of the regional agency (but there is time until next 15 October) , which have booked a total of 26,193 plants of which 6,466 trees , 7,967 saplings and 11,760 shrub plants . All the plants are produced at the Vegetable and Outside Forest Biodiversity Center of Montecchio Precalcino (VI) of Veneto Agricoltura; it is oak, ash, hackberry, lime, hornbeam, field maple, wild apple, hawthorn, sloe, sanguinella and lantane .

The good intentions of this interesting project, that is to help "give back the smile" to heavily man-made territories by planting thousands of trees and plants, have therefore been widely understood by the municipal administrations and the Venetian community that is responding beyond all expectations.

The project, financed by the Region and implemented by Veneto Agricoltura , as mentioned, makes tens of thousands of young native trees and shrubs available to the municipal administrations of the plains , which the Municipalities themselves will then distribute to their citizens. With the planting of plants of local origin, the aim is to improve the environmental characteristics of the regional territory , taking into account the important role played by trees in climate mitigation , in improving the landscape and therefore in the quality of life itself .

" Let's smile back at the Po Valley " is inspired, right from the name, by a similar initiative adopted a few years ago by a group of municipalities of the lower Veneto plain, with the difference that this new project, in addition to presenting a regional "direction" , can count on a much larger quantity of plants made available to citizens. Another not secondary aspect is that this initiative aims to make the Municipalities protagonists of a virtuous process of participatory improvement of their own territory. In fact, through the distribution of plants to its citizens, each municipal administration can, thanks to a simple and concrete gesture such as planting a tree, convey an important cultural and educational message to its citizens.

The municipal administrations of the Veneto plain that intend to join the initiative must send the request via certified e-mail to: avisp@pecveneto.it , then they will receive a link where it will be possible to monitor the reservations; after 15 October they will have to communicate to the organizers the total numbers of requests received using the address: ridiamoilsorriso@outlook.it . The deliveries of the plants are expected from mid-November when they will be in vegetative rest.
