KEEP LA PONCA TRACKS A FIRST BALANCE OF THE 2020 HARVEST AND PRESENTS THE NEW COLLABORATION WITH THE ENOLOGIST FEDERICO GIOTTO

After the first weeks of the harvest, the Friulian company of Scriò draws up an initial assessment of the current harvest which today seems to confirm the initial forecasts: the 2020 vintage is characterized by a good production load, synonymous with wines less concentrated than vintage 2019 but which will enjoy great elegance, drinkability and will be able to best express a suitable but at the same time challenging territory like that of Collio. A particular harvest is that of Tenute La Ponca which inaugurates the collaboration and entry into the team of the new oenologist Federico Giotto , owner and founder of Giotto Consulting, one of the most dynamic and innovative wine consultancy companies in Italy and in the world. "We are happy and honored to have started this collaboration with Tenute La Ponca - explains Giotto - a reality to which in this unique moment of the year we are dedicating the utmost attention both from an agronomic and enological point of view. The goal we have set ourselves is that of giving way to these grapes of great potential to be able to express themselves to the fullest, giving life to structured wines but at the same time of great freshness and balance. We want to give voice and expression to the wines of La Ponca and to a great territory such as Collio, through a style of vinification that is attentive to details, but which at the same time does not dominate the natural talent of these soils, which know how to be recognized in the wines from the first taste. In a nutshell: to maximize the essence of the terroir of La Ponca. " As for the harvest in progress, the new oenologist explains "these days we are in the harvesting phases and Sauvignon, Friulano and Chardonnay are already in fermentation. We are awaiting the perfect phenolic ripening of Malvasia and Ribolla. This year the budding of the vine is occurred slightly later than in previous seasons, however in the months of April and May the plant found particularly favorable conditions with a mild climate and a well distributed irrigation supply during these months. This allowed a recovery in the phenological phases of the plant. productive, the result of a good flowering, was regular and homogeneous among the different cultivated varieties. " The 2020 vintage is therefore characterized by elegance, good drinkability and an excellent varietal expression of the wines.
