In UE Italy is on top for quality agri–food with 261 among DOP, IGP and STG

Italy boasts 261 quality food products with DOP, IGP and STG designations. This is a record for the "Belpaese", followed by France, Spain and Portugal, with respectively 208, 173 and 123 registered trademarks.

Among the most represented agri–food sectors in Italy in 2013 there are fruit, vegetables and cereals (101 products, mostly IGP), cheese (47, almost all DOP), extra virgin olive oils (43, almost exclusively DOP) and meat preparations (37, IGP for more than a third and DOP in the rest of the cases).
