The companies that produce organic wine in Italy are now 44 thousand. The hectares of organic vineyards are 45 thousand, the hectoliters produced are 350 thousand, with a turnover of around 3 billion euro.
A development across the country, from Franciacorta to Tuscany, up to Sicily. Paolo Carnemolla, Chairman of Federbio (who organizes the VinitalyBio dedicated exhibition) stated: «to impress, is the extent of the lands under conversion. Namely, that are changing from conventional to organic farming. In Italy we are talking of about 24 thousand hectares, 55% of the total. And even if the conversion will be completed in three years, in any case it is a growth of 15–20% per year».
