THE WINES OF THE LORENZON CELLAR WIN THE FAVOR OF INTERNATIONAL CRITICS

some news is also coming from the countryside. Lorenzon: «Despite a difficult year to manage, a quality that gratifies the meticulous care of the vineyard and the attention in winemaking».

Many satisfactions have been achieved this year by I Feudi di Romans, the most prestigious line of the Lorenzon winery in San Canzian d'Isonzo (Gorizia), in the heart of the DOC Friuli Isonzo. Sontium 2021 was classified among the best wines by The WineHunter Award 2023, winning the gold medal at the next Merano WineFestival which enhances the excellence and high quality of wine and culinary products, spirits and beers. Sontium 2020 obtained 92 points from James Suckling, one of the most famous wine critics of the moment, while the one that captivated the palate of Englishman Jancis Robinson, "the most authoritative wine journalist in the world" according to the British magazine Decanter, was Anfora Ribolla Gialla 2021 with 16.5 points out of 20.

«We are happy that our wines are receiving critical acclaim - declared Davide and Nicola Lorenzon, respectively Winemaker and Sales and Marketing Director of the Lorenzon I Feudi di Romans winery - and we would like to dedicate these recognitions to all our employees, collaborators and to the customers who, together with us, have strongly believed in these two projects". These are, in fact, the last two references from the Lorenzon winery: Sontium is a cuvée capable of expressing and synthesizing the best of the Pinot Bianco, Friulano, Malvasia and Traminer Aromatico grapes; the Ribolla Gialla in amphora is an orange wine from grapes in an advanced state of ripeness, with a long maceration on the skins in handmade microporous ceramic amphorae and spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts. Both wines are the offspring of a border Friuli, whose vines grow in the lands crossed by the emerald waters of the Isonzo, protected by the Karst, but open to the world. This area, in fact, is a crossroads of different excellent wine cultures that have generated productions famous all over the world.

James Suckling defined Sontium, «sophisticated and concise, structured and dense with a persistent finish». For Jancis Robinson, Ribolla Gialla in amphora has a «fabulous consistency, like oolong tea when you pour out the last grounds, release the tea leaves and there is a soft whisper of bitter notes, tannins and aromatic herbs» adding that it is «a a wine that undoubtedly has the “orange” part, without its aggressiveness». James Suckling assigned a score equal to or greater than 90 points to 7 labels from I Feudi di Romans: in addition to Sontium, Malvasia, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Fysi, Friulano and Chardonnay.

Good news also comes from the countryside. «This year the harvest surprised me in a positive way - declared Enzo Lorenzon, CEO of the Lorenzon Agricultural Company -. In a year that was not easy to manage due to hailstorms and strong winds, we are satisfied with the quality of the grapes. And this is also thanks to meticulous care of the vineyard and the attention we have had in winemaking, but not only." "Nature - he concluded - always has the ability to defend itself."

The Azienda Agricola Lorenzon Srl is located in the municipality of San Canzian d'Isonzo (GO), in the heart of the DOC Friuli Isonzo , 100 kilometers east of Venice, at the same latitude as southern Burgundy, Cognac and Oregon, a position of great winemaking value that benefits from the influences of the Mediterranean microclimate. The family-run winery was founded in 1974 and is managed by Enzo Lorenzon , together with his sons Davide, Winemaker , and Nicola, Sales and Marketing Director . In addition to the SQNPI certification , the national integrated production quality system, the Lorenzon Agricultural Company has adopted best practices aimed at aligning the winery with the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030 for sustainable development in 3 areas: valorization of labor resources, sustainable supply chain and minimization of environmental impact. The winery distributes over 500 thousand bottles every year in Italy and in the most important foreign countries
