The Ministry of Agricultural Policies has learned that the review body of UNESCO has expressed the first positive opinion on the application of the head trained bush vines of Pantelleria. In effect: «according to the judgement expressed, the agricultural practice of Pantelleria is a unique example of vinegrowing, passed down from generation to generation in the community of Pantelleria».
Now, the evaluation will be assessed by the Inter–Governmental Committee of the UNESCO Convention. «This is a first positive judgement that is a credit to our country – Minister Maurizio Martina said – never before Unesco had spoken positively in favor of an agricultural practice, judging it worthy to be included in the prestigious Intangible Cultural Heritage List. We are waiting confidently for the end of the negotiations».
