An innovative process for excellent grapes and wines. With the optical sorter, the Brentino Belluno (Verona) company takes a step forward towards a new level of quality

Roeno introduces an important innovation in the wine production process: the air jet optical sorter . With cutting-edge, efficient and, at the same time, effective technology , the Terradeiforti winery focuses on research and experimentation to consolidate extremely high quality production . The process consists in selecting the best grapes in order to obtain elegant wines with character. During the harvest, after an initial sorting in the vineyard, a second skimming follows in the cellar to identify any foreign bodies and defects linked to the presence of chlorophyll. This very step is carried out with the X-tri air jet optical sorter designed and created by Protec , a Parma-based company specialized in optical sorters and sorting for the agri-food sector. An innovative tool capable of recognizing and eliminating leaves and stems , as well as detecting and removing corpuscles, insects and pieces of wood that could affect the must and consequently the wine. Furthermore, a special sensor on the machine allows you to evaluate the level of ripeness of each berry based on the color, in order to exclude unripe or inappropriate berries. “With the optical sorter we are able to ensure maximum purity of the final product – declares Giuseppe Fugatti , winemaker and owner of the company together with his sisters Cristina and Roberta – Furthermore, we have the possibility of dividing the beans based on their level of maturity , obtaining optimal batches of grapes and guaranteeing precise control over the winemaking process. The tool has enormous potential and allows us to significantly raise the quality level of our wines and, if implemented, of the entire wine sector." The operation of the machine requires that the grapes coming out of the destemmer are distributed on a vibrating belt to feed the conveyor belt of the optical unit. The product, illuminated by particular light sources, is then analyzed by the camera vision system: if an element is defective , it is promptly expelled by a jet of compressed air . The best grapes selected by the machinery create the Le Firme line, which presents the wines that most represent the Fugatti family: Dèkatos Trento Doc, Collezione di Famiglia Riesling Renano, Rivoli Pinot Grigio, Enantio Riserva – 1865 Pre-Filloxera and Cristina Late Harvest . Completing the range are Le Selezioni – with Roeno Vino del Fondatore , Riesling Renano Praecipuus and Enantio Terradeiforti DOC – and I Vigneti with monovarietal expressions of Valdadige.
