On January 3, Giulio Gambelli passed away, an important man for Italian wine.
Without suffering the Sangiovese master left us who "embodied its rough, disgruntled character, but ready to open up if you knew how to take it" as his pupil and friend Carlo Macchi affirms.
Gambelli had taught all the winemakers of Montalcino and many of the Chianti Classico to produce wine.
A story of love for wine that has grown and matured in Tuscany.
Here is the closing of the greeting of his disciple Macchi:
"Today the last butterfly of Sangiovese has passed away and from today we are all poorer.
Hi Giulio, may the earth be light to you "
The funeral will take place on Thursday 5 January at 3 pm at the Collegiate Church of Poggibonsi.
