The tour of Italy will stop in Vicenza and will have two truly exceptional partners: the Consorzio Tutela Colli Berici and Vicenza wines and the Colli Berici wine route, partner of the Vicenza stage of the Giro. Visits to the beautiful Vicenza area and tastings in the cellar will delight the general public. The Vicenza wineries are involved in the stage of the Giro d'Italia in Vicenza: CÃ Rovere di Alonte Farm, Piovene Porto Godi Farm in Toara di Villaga, Pegoraro Farm in Mossano, San Valentino Farm in Brendola, Costalunga Farm of Castegnero, Ca 'Basso of Longare and the Dal Toso Distillery of Barbarano.
The initiative was initiated by the Consortium for the protection of Colli Berici and Vicenza wines and the Wine Route of the Berici Hills and the Vicenza 2013 Stage Committee. The presentation was attended by: Andrea Monico, director of the Colli Berici and Vicenza Wine Consortium; Rino Polacco, President of the Berici Hills Wine Route; Claudio Pasqualin, lawyer, representing the Vicenza Stage Committee 2013. A full calendar of food and wine initiatives will accompany the arrival of the pink caravan on 22 May.
The wines and grappa they produce will be marked with a commemorative sticker of the event, effectively creating a limited edition linked to the Vicenza leg of the Giro. And with these wines we will toast during the gala dinner in the Basilica Palladiana on May 22, which will be attended by international journalists and authorities. The same wines will be offered to the public in the EXPO area which will be set up in the Salvi gardens at the arrival of the stage.
The cellars and the distillery will be open with special food and wine tastings for the public in the days before the passage of the Giro, when many amateur cyclists will anticipate the route of the race. A brochure with contact details, opening hours and a description of all the companies will be available to tourists to facilitate their visit. The wines will also be available in the city, with a special corner at the Grottino wine bar in Piazza delle Erbe.
"The stage will not only end in the city of Vicenza - explains the lawyer Claudio Pasqualin, one of the main promoters of the stage - but in its path it will embrace a large part of the Vicenza area. It is natural to think of combining sports and good wines: the colors of Vicenza are white and red, precisely those of wine ".
"The passage of the Giro d'Italia - comments Andrea Monico, director of the Consorzio Vini Colli Berici and Vicenza - represents a very important opportunity for visibility for our territory. Cyclists will pass through the vineyards of Tai Rosso: what better occasion to let people know that in addition to the beautiful landscapes and the marvelous Villas, our province can also offer extraordinary wines?
