Giordano Zinzani is the new President of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna

A prominent figure in the wine scene, he takes over halfway from Pierluigi Sciolette, who decided to enjoy a well-deserved rest after a long career in the world of wine

On the occasion of the last Board of Directors of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna, which took place in Imola on 2 July at the end of the annual ordinary Shareholders' Meeting, the winemaker Giordano Zinzani was elected President of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna . Zinzani, a prominent name in the wine scene for the important positions held in the sector, including that of President of the Consorzio Vini di Romagna for twelve years (office held until the end of May 2020), takes over from Pierluigi Sciolette, who half of his second term (he was in office since 2014) he decided to retire to enjoy 100% of a well-deserved rest after a long career in the world of wine. Zinzani already held the role of Vice President of the Body (since 2008) which has the aim of promoting and enhancing the Emilia-Romagna wine all over the world, therefore it is in all respects a passing of the witness, in the name of continuity, even if the new President will have to manage immediately the difficult situation of the post lockdown sector imposed by Covid-19.

By virtue of the new position of Zinzani and the retirement of Sciolette, a new Vice President was also appointed: Claudio Biondi, President of the Protection Consortium of Lambrusco di Modena, who joins the confirmed Paola Frabetti of Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna.

The first comment of the new President Zinzani goes to the work of those who preceded him: «I thank Pierluigi Sciolette for the activity he has carried out in recent years, making Enoteca the reference point for its members and for all regional wine » . He continues: « As far as the future is concerned, I am aware of the difficulties in which our sector, and unfortunately not only, is facing due to the pandemic that has hit us. I therefore take over the presidency at a very particular time, which is unprecedented, but thanks to the greater involvement of the entire Board of Directors, we will be able to deal in the best possible way, to relaunch the work of all our associates and our splendid region. I bind myself to this to remind that we have been working for some time on an important wine tourism project, which has undergone an inevitable slowdown in the first six months of the year, but which we have already fully restarted. I would also like to underline the close collaboration with the Department of Agriculture of the Emilia-Romagna Region ».

Faentino, the oenologist Giordano Zinzani since 1975 has held various technical roles in the cooperative cellar and in an important consortium of cellars at a national level where, after many years as a manager, the collaboration continues today with the role of supervisor and tutor for new wine projects.

Speaker at numerous conferences and seminars in Italy and abroad, he has published numerous technical articles and technical / popular books. From 1990 to 2013 he was President of the Romagna Assoenologi section and national Councilor and from 1999 a member of the Italian delegation of the Union Internationale des Œnologues based in Paris. Since 2002 he has been a member of the working group "Oenological practices" representing Copa-Cogeca, at the European Commission DG Agri in Brussels. Academic aggregate since 2005 of the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine and from 2011 corresponding Academician. From 2008 to 2020 he was President of the Vini di Romagna Consortium and member of the Federdoc Board of Directors in Rome. Since 2014 he has been a Director of the Pignoletto Emilia-Romagna Wine Consortium and from 2015 to 2018 of the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco di Modena. Since 2016 he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of Equalitas srl, an institution created with the aim of promoting the sustainability of the agri-food chains and wine in particular. On 15 December 2017 he was appointed Correspondent Academician of the National Academy of Agriculture based in Bologna, while on 1 May 2018 he was awarded the title of "Master of work".

In addition to the President Zinzani, the Board of Directors of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna is made up of: Claudio Biondi of the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco di Modena (Vice President), Francesco Cavazza Isolani of the Cavazza Isolani Company and of the Consorzio Vini Colli Bolognesi (BO) , Anselmo Chiarli of PR.I.VI. (MO), Luca Deserti from the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Bosco Eliceo (FE), Enrico Drei Donà from Tenuta La Palazza (FC), Massimiliano Fabbri from Azienda Agricola Trerè (RA), Andrea Ferrari from Monte delle Vigne (PR); Davide Frascari, of the Consorzio Vini Reggiani, Paola Frabetti of Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna (Vice President), Massimo Lorenzi of the Ottaviani Company (RN), Marco Nannetti of the Cevico Group (RA), Gianfranco Rossi of Piacenza, Roberto Sarti di Caviro (RA ).
