Giacomo Pondini, 44, from Tuscany, is the new director of the Consortium of Asti and Moscato d'Asti docg. He comes from the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium of which he has been director since 2015 and succeeds Giorgio Bosticco, retired since September 2019. Says the president, Romano Dogliotti: «We were looking for a person in perfect harmony with the world of wine and, at the same time, in possession of an international profile preparation, able to adequately respond to the challenges that our denomination has to face. Dr. Giacomo Pondini has these characteristics for academic, professional and human training. I am sure that together we will do an excellent job in order to give the Consortium the guide it deserves ». "Getting to the direction of the Consortium of Asti and Moscato d'Asti docg is an opportunity for professional and human growth" is the first comment by Giacomo Pondini who adds: "For my part, as the representatives of the Consortium with whom I know had the opportunity to confront myself in these weeks, I can assure the maximum effort to grow and protect a historical and important denomination not only for Piedmont, but for Italy as a whole of wine ". With a training course strongly addressed to the international context (degree in Political Sciences with international address achieved at the University of Siena and a Master in Diplomatic Careers and International Organizations at the University of Parma), after an assignment in the commercial area at the Embassy Italian in Namibia in the early 2000s, Pondini entered the world of food and wine, holding various roles in wineries in the Chianti area and then joining the Morellino Consortium and, subsequently, that of Brunello.
