"We will have Nizza DOCG from the 2014 harvest". This is the announcement of Filippo Mobrici, elected a few weeks ago at the head of the Consortium for the Protection of the Asti and Monferrato Wines that goes on. "By the end of July, the National Wines Committee will examine the practice of the public verification for the new discipline of Nizza, and then we will wait for the green light from Bruxelles. Without creating illusions, we can say that the road is now plotted to have the new regulations".
The main changes introduced in the specification: the new Nizza will be 100% Barbera. The enrichment of alcohol content is not allowed. In the difficult years will not produce Nizza. In addition, a Nizza reserve which must be aged in the cellar at least 30 months (minimum 12 months in wooden barrels) is created.
