"Italy of wine loses its share abroad (-8.1% compared to the same period in 2011), but on the product range that is less interesting for our companies and which have always been fertile ground for other types of producers such as those Spanish and South America. The contraction is in fact relative only to bulk wines (-23% in volume) and mainly concerns common and varietal wines (respectively -28.3% and -27.1% in volume) ". These are the words of the President of the Wine Sector of Fedagri-Confcooperative Adriano Orsi commenting on the ISMEA data on the international trade of Italian wine.
"On the other hand - continues Orsi - Italy can still boast an increase in sales of bottled wines (+ 3% in volume and + 6% in value), confirming that the qualification objectives of our wines find a real market response in foreign sales strategies ".
Therefore the volume decreases, while the sales increase with an increase of 6.9% compared to the first quarter of 2011.
