EXCELLENT PROSPECTS FOR THE 2023 HARVEST FOR TORREVILLA WINERY. THE CLOSURE OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT IS ALSO POSITIVE

After a 2023 that opened in the sign of the water deficit and concerns related to the increase in the price of raw materials and glass, Cantina Torrevilla, a cooperative winery present in the Oltrepò Pavese area, is approaching the harvest with renewed optimism. The favorable climate experienced from spring onwards allowed for the development of a more than positive year both in terms of yield and the quality of the grapes.

" We are very confident and now we expect a positive year - says Massimo Barbieri, President of Cantina Torrevilla - To date we have had the good fortune to remain excluded from the heavy downpours of recent days, both as regards hail and as regards the strong wind and this bodes well for a final phase of maturation that brings good qualitative and yield results.If last year we had to intervene with a decidedly early harvest, this year we expect to return to the canons and expect the harvest to begin not excessively early but not too late either. As Torrevilla Group we are also successfully progressing in the La Genisia Project, with our agronomists in full swing to monitor the activity of the bestowers and guarantee a high quality of the grapes".

The heat of last July did not particularly affect the crops, allowing the grapes to ripen without the risk of drought and without being affected by the heavy weather phenomena that involved other areas of Lombardy.

“ There are all the prerequisites for predicting an excellent year, especially from a climatic point of view - explains Simone Fiori, Torrevilla winemaker - The spring rains were essential to refresh the aquifer reserves after the great drought at the beginning of 2023. Even now we have not suffered the effects of the great heat, with lower night temperatures able to mitigate the 30 degrees per day. Temperature excursions that enrich the aromas, especially of the Pinot Noir grapes, giving a turning point to the vintage. The plants have a good amount of grapes and we expect a recovery yield compared to the lower volumes of last year. The forecasts are also excellent for the quality and for a maturation conclusion in line with expectations. We will start harvesting around August 15, starting from the sparkling bases ”.

Cantina Torrevilla, as a social reality very present in the area, has always given great value to the role of regional and national institutions as a point of reference and support to the wine sector, a fundamental sector for the economic and social fabric of Oltrepò Pavese.

“ The harvest is a fundamental period for our sector and we are happy to perceive the closeness of the institutions - confirms President Barbieri - We have recently received a visit from the Councilor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Alessandro Beduschi and from the Regional Councilor Claudio Mangiarotti, whom I thank for taking Torrevilla into consideration among the Oltrepavise companies visited. A first meeting which I hope will pave the way for an in-depth dialogue with the regional institutions and which will lead to another visit during the harvest period. This is certainly a positive moment, which comes after a difficult 2022 and marked by a significant increase in costs, also continued at the beginning of 2023. Despite these premises, Torrevilla's financial statements closed with a good result, a sign that the company is working good and in everyone's interest. For this reason I would like to thank our Director Gabriele Picchi and the entire Torrevilla team for the work carried out up to now. The price of grapes has also been affected by this positive wave: we can predict an average price higher than the expectations at the beginning of the year, despite the scarcity of the last harvest which, according to expectations, this year will not disappoint us both in terms of quantity and quality ”.
