DOC SICILIA AND US MARKET: SUPPORT TO WINE COMPANIES

Between July and September, the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Doc Sicilia organizes three digital meetings with 40 US importers for associated companies not imported into the US market

The calendar of activities, in Italy and abroad, promoted by the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Doc Sicilia to accompany the restart of the sector and support the member companies is increasingly rich. In particular, the Consortium has created an initiative aimed at giving concrete support to member companies, whose wines are not yet imported into the United States, through the organization of three digital events in which 40 US importers , both national and regional. " The Sicily of wine is looking with increasing attention to the US market, the main Italian wine market with its 1.6 billion euro of imports. - explains Antonio Rallo, President of the Consortium for the protection of Doc Sicilia wines - This initiative is part of a broader program of activities that, as a Consortium, we are carrying out in the awareness that in these months of recovery, particular attention must be paid to the wineries that are less likely to enter the market . " Twenty-seven companies that have joined the initiative and will take part in these three digital events. The digital tastings will be moderated by Jeff Porter, a longtime sommelier who has worked in some of the best Italian restaurants in the United States. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday 27 July while the other two have been scheduled for August and September. The range of actions that the Consortium promotes in the American market is varied and wide. In fact, new communication and promotional campaigns have already been launched in the USA. Current Global , a leading agency and consultant of the Consortium for years, mainly deals with relationships with media, social media, influencers and strategic partnerships. It was joined by the Colangelo & Partners agency that deals with relations with specialized media and the trade, press trips and virtual events for the wine trade. These initiatives are helping to consolidate the good results that the Consortium has already achieved in the first six months of 2021, during which the bottled has an increase of 8% compared to the same period of 2020. Over 50 million bottles have been produced by the companies of the Doc Sicilia against 46 million in the January-June period of last year. " A result that confirms the validity of the strategy decided by the Board of the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Doc Sicilia which involves a supply chain of about 8,000 companies " comments the president Antonio Rallo .
