Luca Brondelli di Brondello: "We spread the blockchain among agricultural companies to make production more transparent towards consumers"

" Confagricoltura has always considered the acquisition of new knowledge and skills as one of the main drivers of growth and development of agricultural enterprises and in the current context of structural change in the company organization, based on innovation and digitalization, this belief has become a daily commitment to be pursued with greater determination ".

Luca Brondelli di Brondello, member of the national council of Confagricoltura , declared this today, speaking this afternoon at the online meeting on " Blockchain and Digital Transformation: the challenges of the AgriFood sector " in the context of the General States of the World of Work organized by B -Initiatives with the patronage of the City of Cuneo and Confindustria Cuneo .

" We want to give our priority contribution to achieving the Zero Hunger goal - said Luca Brondelli - by working to create the conditions so that the potential of technological innovation can give answers in terms of concrete sustainability to a planet that will reach a population close to 10 billions of people by 2050. Between technologies that improve the quality and sustainability of crops, solutions for the competitiveness of businesses and innovations for product traceability, digital is increasingly gaining ground in the Italian agri-food sector ".

Confagricoltura recalls that the Italian market for Agriculture 4.0 continues to grow and in 2019 it reached a value of 450 million euros (22% compared to 2018, 5% of the global market), with most of the expenditure concentrated in monitoring and control (39% of expenditure), management software (20%) and connected machinery (14%), followed by remote land monitoring (10%), mapping (9%) and decision support systems (5%).

Among the innovative digital solutions for food traceability offered on the Italian market we are witnessing the boom of the blockchain, whose presence has more than doubled in a year and which characterizes 43% of the solutions available, followed by QR Code (41%), mobile apps (36%), data analytics (34%), and Internet of Things (30%).

" In general, after finance and the Public Administration - recalled Luca Brondelli di Brondello - Agrifood in 2019 represented the third sector for blockchain operational projects, started by companies above all to meet commercial opportunities, to make the processes of supply chain and achieve environmental and social sustainability objectives ".

Confagricoltura is committed to spreading knowledge of the blockchain among agricultural businesses, with the aim of making production more transparent towards end consumers and supply chain processes more efficient, enhancing food safety and environmental sustainability.
