The Chianti-flavored sorbet was born in Florence
A cellar in Montespertoli and an ice cream maker in the center of Florence have created the Chianti-flavored sorbet, a new flavor of ice cream.
After having refueled from the 'Guido Gualandi' winery in Montespertoli for zabaglione, the owners of the 'Edoardo' ice cream parlor in Piazza Duomo decided to use the red 'Montebetti' Chianti Colli Fiorentini docg of Gualandi as the main ingredient for their new ice cream.
'' In our ice cream parlor - explains Andrea Montrucchio - we have 18 flavors and the Chianti Colli Fiorentini sorbet allows us to add a taste associated with Chianti and Florence, a more immediate connotation both for our customers and for the many tourists who enter our shop . The realization of the sorbet required two weeks of experimentation to arrive at a correct balance of taste that faithfully recalls the wine. The result is an ice cream with an intense flavor and a light pink-purple tone, ready to win over visitors to Florence and lovers of signature ice cream ''.
