Blueberries and red wine are against obesity?

  • 31/10/2014

Pterostilbene, that can be found in blueberries and red wine, is effective in preventing the onset of obesity? On rats, yes. To say it, a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Pterostilbene is a phenolic compound of the same family of resveratrol, found in foods such as blueberries and red wine. A group of Spanish researchers carried out a study on rats which showed that pterostilbene has clear anti–obesity properties.

Given the results, the Spanish researchers, who have patented the mixture, are planning to use it soon in intervention studies on humans, to confirm the anti–obesity effect.
