Hospitality and welcome in the name of good food and good wine, immersed in an oasis decorated with vineyards and olive groves a few kilometers from Palermo. These are some of the ingredients for a relaxing holiday, in complete safety, in the Agrirelais of the Baglio di Pianetto winery in Sicily.
Just 25 km from the capital of the island, near the tourist site of Monreale, Count Paolo Marzotto in 1997 chose the Pianetto district in Santa Cristina Gela to fulfill his dream in a region he always loved, giving life to his winery. An enchanted place, with its vineyard hills and its vegetation, as are the wines signed by the company, all organic and appreciated by both connoisseurs and enthusiasts for their link with the territory and the ability to return in the glass scents and flavors of great charm.
Features that have always distinguished Agrirelais too, which after months of lockdown has reopened its doors, ready to welcome its guests in total safety. "We have adjusted our structure in time to the rules of distancing, aware that the safety of our guests and our collaborators must come first. We were happy to be able to open the doors of our Agrirelais in July and I must say that tourists do not they took a long time to arrive, even if unlike in previous years the Italian guests overtook the foreign ones " explains Renato de Bartoli, CEO of Baglio di Pianetto .
The creations of chef Vito Priolo in the internal restaurant, the large lounges, a reading room, a bright veranda overlooking the garden, the swimming pool, are the places to live common life in the Agrirelais. Without forgetting, of course, what represents the beating heart of the estate and its welcoming activity: the visit to the cellar with the tasting of the most representative wines that are produced in this setting. The fourteen rooms of the Agrirelais each bear the name of one of the wines of Baglio di Pianetto and are characterized by original furnishings and immersed in silence. The formula adopted by the fascinating structure, which stands in the center of splendid hills planted with vines at about 650 meters above sea level, does not involve the use of plexiglass, but rather routes studied correctly using the available spaces, both in the hospitality business and in the visits to the cellar, making the most of the outdoor areas as well.
"Beyond the right anti Covid-19 protocols, I must say that many wineries, which have chosen to combine their production with an accommodation business, by their nature are quite similar to the needs dictated by the current situation: they often have large spaces and some, like ours, are located in the countryside ". If the last few months have certainly had a great impact on tourist flows, especially from abroad, they have certainly also left their mark on the habits of local travelers. "I think that many of our compatriots, eager for a relaxing experience off the beaten track, could find in our Agrirelais an experience of great enrichment and an incentive to live a different holiday in the name of good food, good wine and of biodiversity ".
