AYMAVILLES AND ITS HEROES, THE WINE GROWERS

The hero is the character who in the stories has a strong and valiant character, accomplishes great feats and saves those who find themselves in difficulty. Those from the Aosta Valley are the winemakers who dedicate themselves to heroic viticulture , who promote native vines and who together carry out even more important feats.

On the occasion of the San Martino Harvest which was held on 11 November 2023 , the symbolic event that marks the end of the agricultural year, Les Crêtes, Cave des Onze Communes and Didier Gerbelle chose to reap the fruits of their annual efforts. The three Aymavilles companies harvested the grapes from the rows of Neret and Fumin , two well-rooted and ancient native Aosta Valley black berry vines, which are suitable for the late November harvest. The 500 bottles of wine produced will be donated to the Municipality of Aymavilles , City of Wine, and uncorked during special occasions and initiatives in the town.

This small and thoughtful production is an ode to the heroic viticulture of an equally small region, the Aosta Valley, where one hectare of vineyard requires 1,200 hours of manual labor . Despite the critical issues, many young producers perceive the value and uniqueness of these wines and the importance of a cultural and landscape heritage and a historical and artisanal legacy .

The union of the three Aymavilles companies in the San Martino Harvest is a clear message of support for an impervious and gentle territory, of diffusion of manual and artisanal knowledge in the wine field and of support for the Aosta Valley and its riches tangible and intangible.
