  • 24/05/2012

Attilio Scienza participates in "Wine & Ruin", the symposium of wine and history of the Norwegian Institute of Rome, which deals with the value of the Roman Empire for wine today.

The famous professor said: "Throughout history wine has had an immense wealth of cultural and social values, and Italy, where even before Ancient Rome this history took shape in a thousand ways, has the duty to enhance it, to to write many "historical novels" of which wine is the protagonist ".

Prominent examples:

- the recovery of Mamertino, Julius Caesar's wine,

-Feudi di San Gregorio who makes a historical excursus of viticulture in Campania

- Giovanni Negri, author of "Roma Caput Vini", which narrates the key role of the Roman Empire in the diffusion of viticulture in Europe.

- Historians and archaeologists who have told us about the uses and customs, including food, religion and eros, of the birth of Bacchus in Ancient Rome.
