Assovini Sicilia is a reality that has always stood out for its commitment to solidarity initiatives and development projects in the area since its establishment. Faced with the difficult moment that the country is going through due to the spread of the epidemic, the Association's Board of Directors, adhering to the requests coming from its members, has therefore decided to take direct action to contribute in a concrete way to support those who they are trying to offer help in this moment of great suffering for the country.
It was therefore decided to donate the sum of 20,000 euros to the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Italian Red Cross Committee of Palermo to support the fight against Covid-19. These are two companies that have always been committed to offering assistance to the weakest sections of society. The Community of Sant'Egidio in fact, in the Palermo office, has been engaged for years in the care of homeless people, while the Italian Red Cross , Palermo Committee, is carrying out fundamental work in these hours to guarantee the purchase of first necessity.
The Association has also decided to make an appointment in 2021 for the Sicilia en Primeur event , an event promoted by Assovini Sicilia which for 17 years has brought together around a hundred journalists from all over the world in May. However, the Association has decided to virtually involve the Italian and foreign press that would have been present at the event through a direct Facebook scheduled on Tuesday 12 May 2020 at 16.00 for Italy / EU and USA and Wednesday 13 May 2020 at 09.00 for ASIA - INDIA during which Assovini Sicilia will have the opportunity to bring his greetings and present the data on the 2019 harvest trend.
Assovini Sicilia brings together 90 companies representing large, medium and small production companies, and expresses the most important wineries on the island. The companies are united by three elements: total control of the wine production chain, from the vineyard to the bottle; the production of quality bottled wine; the international vision of the market.
