The University of California at Los Angeles is experimenting with a substance to protect the brain from symptoms of excessive alcohol intake and limit the desire to overindulge.
The active ingredient is based on dihydromyricetin and has been tested on mice with excellent results. The substance inhibits the activity of alcohol on the brain's neurotransmitter receptors which causes drowsiness, sedation and decreased brain activity.
Human tests are now underway.
Good job to the Californian researchers!
