The Abraxas winery in Pantelleria suffered an attack. The owner of the winery is Calogero Mannino, former Minister of Agriculture and current parliamentarian. Empty the wine vats of:
200 hectoliters of passito vintage 2012 e
250 hectoliters of passito vintage 2010 and 2011.
The rest of the cellar is intact: vehicles, tractors, machinery but a total of 700 hectoliters has been lost forever.
. The estimates of economic damage are very high considering that the Abraxas passito is worth between 60 and 70 euros per liter.
The Pantelleria carabinieri are investigating the case, here are the comments from the owner Mannino:
"For us it could be a fatal blow. They took nothing, they left agricultural machinery and tractor behind. You can see that the intent was to cause us fatal damage and that's it. We don't even have insurance coverage and only passito wine has been lost. for 250 thousand euros ". Mannino also added that "we have not received threats or requests of any kind. We do not explain what happened. We have been in Pantelleria for some years and nothing had ever happened".
