2023 budget: record bottlings for the Colli Berici and Vicenza DOC wines

The Consorzio Tutela Vini Colli Berici e Vicenza records for the year 2023 the best performance in terms of bottling of the last 6 years for wines from the Berici Hills and of the last 9 years for those from the Vicenza area. For the Colli Berici DOC , there are 1,640,000 bottles to date, marking an important increase of 12% compared to 2022 . Similarly, the Vicenza DOC wines have recorded their highest peak since 2014 with a growth of 7% compared to the previous year, tangible proof of the constant production excellence and appreciation of these labels on the market. Furthermore, the Consortium welcomes two new companies , bringing the total number of members to 28 , an increase which underlines the attractiveness of the initiatives implemented by the consortium. “In a context like the Italian one which has presented some challenges in recent years, our denominations have stood out for their excellent results – declares Giovanni Ponchia , director of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Colli Berici e Vicenza –. It is particularly gratifying to note that our good performance is not limited to the national context, but also extends abroad. The territory of the Berici Hills and Vicenza has captured the interest of international critics , obtaining notable scores which testify to the quality of our wines. A recognition that is the result of years of commitment on the part of all the member companies in the care of the vineyards, in the winemaking and in the promotion of our wine heritage". “The current year for our winemakers has been difficult at times, characterized by complex climatic and phytosanitary conditions which have led to a drop in the quantity of grapes of 10% – comments the president of the Consortium Silvio Dani -. However, we note with great pride how the quality level remains high, confirming the extraordinary vocation of our territory for viticulture and highlighting the ability of our members in dealing with climatic variables in the production and vinification of the grapes".
