2011 Mannheimer's survey on Brunello di Montalcino wine among the most loved

Professor Renato Mannheimer presented the survey "Italians and fine wines in times of crisis: the Brunello di Montalcino case", carried out by the ISPO institute on a sample of 800 statistically representative of the entire Italian population.

The results here:

- 1 in 5 Italians, especially men between 25 and 34 years old, do not give up on buying wine despite the crisis.
- 3 out of 4 Italians say they prefer an Italian wine to improve the economy.
- Wine connoisseurs go even further and celebrate their love and passion for this made in Italy excellence not only as a personal consumption, but also as a gift (70%), as an investment (48%), as a reward for sacrifices (32%) and, last but not least, also as support for our economy (76%), since the wine sector weighs over 10 billion euros a year on the Italian trade balance.
- "Drinking a 5-star Italian wine makes me proud because it is the excellence of my land" is in fact the opinion of 72% of Italians
- Numerous Italian wines mentioned, but Brunello di Montalcino is considered by the majority of the interviewees (24%) indisputably the "Ferrari" of wines and stands out among the most loved (11%), together with Chianti (18%) and Barbera ( 15%).

The positive trend of Brunello is also confirmed by the increase in sales of Brunello di Montalcino, of which 9.3 million bottles were produced in 2011 alone, compared to 8.3 million in 2010.
