100% ANIMAL-FREE: new trend and new brand for Vegetarian wine

  • 02/07/2013

100% animal-free is the vegetarian wine dedicated to those who follow a vegetarian diet.

Although winemaking goes more and more towards vinification processes that should be as natural as possible, usually both in the vineyard and in the cellar substances of animal origin are used. The Italian Vegetarian Association (Avi), along with Valoritalia, has designed a label to certify the wines for vegetarians that are produced without any animal track.

Certification shall be given by the Italian Vegetarian Association (Avi) and Valoritalia: "in ten years, vegetarians have tripled, now we are 10% of the population - Carmen Nicchi Somascan, president of the AVI, said - our market is a growing reality, and we realized that it must be protected, even for wine, and hence the choice of working with Csqa and Valoritalia to certify that a product is vegetarian. How? By marking "Qualità Vegetariana®,", the first national brand for the certification of vegetarian products, recently presented at the SANA in Bologna.

"This is a voluntary certification - Pietro Bonato, AD voluntary and biological certification and of Valoritalia, added - we will do the checks and then, once the producer has passed, AVI will authorize to use the brand. It is a step forward for those who want to "drink vegetarian", because it is the first certification obtained by the verification of a third competent and reliable body, and not with a simple self-certification".
