Alta Langa DOCG made its debut in the United States with a trade event hosted by Eataly Downtown in New York . Organized by the Alta Langa Consortium , the event brought together 27 producers and over 200 wine professionals and media representatives , marking an important milestone in the appellation's awareness in the US market.
The event, held on March 10, showcased Alta Langa DOCG among the emerging players in the premium Italian Metodo Classico sparkling wine category, a segment that continues to attract the attention of wine professionals in the United States.
Tasting attendees included sommeliers, wine directors, buyers, importers, distributors, and industry journalists, many of whom were discovering Alta Langa DOCG wines for the first time. The large turnout confirmed American winemakers' interest in a sparkling wine that reveals a strong territorial identity and surprising quality.
The day opened with two educational panels titled "Why Alta Langa DOCG Belongs on Your Wine List: Education, Positioning, and Profitability," led by Juliana Colangelo , wine marketing expert and host of the Italian Wine Podcast, in conversation with Giovanna Bagnasco and Paolo Rossino , respectively, councilor and president of the Promotion Committee and director of the Alta Langa Consortium. The sessions illustrated the appellation's production standards, its distinctive characteristics, and the opportunities for positioning Alta Langa DOCG in the US market, offering participants an overview of the territory's history, its vineyards, and its production approach.
The afternoon continued with a walk-around tasting featuring 27 producers. Participants were able to explore the appellation through a wide selection of wines and engage directly with the producers. The tasting highlighted the diversity and elegance of Alta Langa DOCG, helping to better define the product's stylistic identity and its potential in the US market.
" The day marked the debut of Alta Langa DOCG outside of Italy. We chose to hold the event in New York, recognizing its value as an iconic city, as well as the symbol and essence of an Italian wine market that has always been very active and vibrant. This was a "first" that allowed us to present our wine to one of the most influential markets in the world and to share the identity and quality that characterize our denomination ," commented Giovanni Minetti , president of the Alta Langa Consortium. " The response from the US trade was extremely positive, certainly exceeding expectations ."
The previous evening, the Alta Langa Consortium had also organized a welcome cocktail at Terroir , one of New York's most popular wine bars. The event was attended by sommeliers, wine directors, buyers, and trade press representatives, offering an initial opportunity to taste the product (presented exclusively in magnum format) and engage with the producers in an informal, convivial atmosphere.
