Monferrato is a land of extraordinary beauty, a mosaic of hills that tell stories of men and vineyards, of traditions passed down and of an indissoluble bond between land and culture.

In this landscape, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, wine becomes the most authentic expression of an identity that feeds on history and continuous innovation, a bridge between past and future that the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato protects and promotes with dedication.

Costigliole d'Asti, March 3, 2025 - Monferrato is a territory of extraordinary beauty, a mosaic of hills that tell stories of men and vineyards, of traditions passed down and of an indissoluble bond between land and culture.

Representing thirteen denominations of excellence, the Consortium is not only the custodian of an extraordinary winemaking heritage, but an interpreter of its evolution, a promoter of sustainability, quality and authenticity,” declared the President of the Consortium Vitaliano Maccario. “Our initiatives are the voice of a territory that has been able to build an internationally recognized model of excellence over time, combining respect for its roots with the ability to look beyond borders.”

This is the context in which the first promotional event of 2025 promoted by the Consortium takes place, dedicated to a denomination that is a symbol of the winemaking richness of Monferrato, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG , an occasion for celebration and meeting to tell, through wine, the uniqueness of this land.

Scheduled for March 31 at the NH Hotel Collection Piazza Carlina in Turin , the event will be dedicated to the Preview of Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG , an opportunity to discover the new vintage of a wine that embodies the charm and mystery of a rare and precious grape variety. With a history that has its roots in tales of ancient monasteries and visionary intuitions, Ruchè has established itself as one of the most intriguing expressions of Monferrato, an elegant and seductive red that conquers with its notes of withered rose, spices and ripe red fruits. The event will be divided into two distinct moments : a blind tasting reserved for journalists and industry professionals, designed to offer a technical and in-depth analysis of the vintage, and an exhibition area with tasting tables also open to the public, where the producers will talk about the nuances of this extraordinary wine. An opportunity to get closer to a grape variety that over the years has managed to build a strong and recognizable identity , conquering the palates of experts and enthusiasts and confirming itself as one of the great Piedmontese excellences.

A rare and cultivated vine in the province of Asti, in the Castagnole Monferrato area and in a few other municipalities, Ruchè is one of the rarest native vines among those cultivated in the Monferrato Astigiano , which comes from dry and calcareous soils subject to high levels of sunlight. Since 1987 , the year in which it obtained the DOC denomination , it has recorded constant and progressive appreciation that today makes it an expression of the territory's identity and variety. Its redevelopment is due to a priest, Don Giacomo Cauda , who in the Sixties covered those abandoned bunches, relaunching a wine destined to have great success. It obtained the DOCG in 2010 and its production today reaches one million bottles.

Through these promotional events, the Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium reaffirms its commitment to enhancing and promoting the denominations that represent the beating heart of a unique territory, combining the protection of traditions with a strong drive towards innovation and dissemination. Opportunities to tell not only about extraordinary wines , but the value of a landscape that expresses itself through its viticulture, a heritage made of stories, passion and vision, which continues to write new pages of excellence
