The appointment for the professionals is in Padua
It will take place at the Congress Centre A. Luciani of Padua on Thursday, 12th December 2013, the debut edition of the
Viticulture–Oenology Exhibition Conference (Convegno Espositivo Viticoltura–Enologia) , organized by Senaf and dedicated technical updating for operators of the industry.
“The Veneto region, the main wine–producing region in Italy, goes back to the spotlight of the world of Italian wine with the Viticulture–Oenology Exhibition Conference. In Padua are called to confront the operators of a chain that, with the 2013 harvest, makes Italy become the world’s largest producer of wine, with 44.5 million hectoliters expected. The potentially favorable market situation has certainly to be exploited and requires a constant update on techniques and solutions to be applied throughout the chain to get a quality product and to be competitive, especially in foreign markets. The most recent ISTAT estimates indicate that in 2013 exports could represent 50% of sales, surpassing the historical share of 5 billion € of turnover” Costanza Fregoni, technical coordinator of the event, says.
The appointment stems from the desire to offer a natural meeting point among research, industry and the market to provide a technical update and learn about everything new and innovative applied research proposes to professionals, not to lose competitive strength in front of the new challenges the market. Today, in effect, the Italian wine industry is going through a phase of strong dynamism. The industry is changing, both in response to an increasingly complex regulatory environment and to an increasingly competitive market, and by virtue of the rapid and continuous evolution of techniques and technologies applicable in the vineyard and in the cellar. To this, the growing consumer sensitivity towards environmental issues must be added, a fact that is promoting the adoption of low-impact production techniques.
For this reason, during the Viticulture–Oenology Exhibition Conference 13 presentations by academics, researchers and industry experts on the topics of greatest interest are in the program, involving the whole chain. In the wine–growing and wine–making fields, topics related to technical and technological innovation focusing on environmental sustainability and on the need to respond to the solution of specific production issues (defense of the vineyard, new root stocks and new vines, ICT, dealcoholization of wine...), as well as on the demands of consumers, will be discussed. The market, with its current challenges, such as sustainability, internationalization and the protection of the territorial nature of the product, will be treated in appropriate reports that will seek to build a training program to offer clear experiences and solutions to properly insert the own product in the current context within the market.
An event of particular importance and interest for the Italian wine world, as proved by the official presence of OIV (Organizzazione Internazionale della Vigna e del Vino), by the patronage of Veneto Agriculture, of UPA – Unione Provinciale Artigiani di Padova, of the Chamber of Commerce of Padua, and by the extensive adhesion found in the world of Consortia: Consortium Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, Consortium for the Protection of the DOC Colli Piacentini wines, Consortium for the Protection of the DOC Prosecco, Consortium for the Protection of the Bardolino DOC wine, Consortium for the Protection of the Lessini Duello DOC wines, Chianti Rufina Consortium, Consortium for the Protection of Lugana DOC, Consortium DOC Friuli Latisana, Colli Orientali del Friuli Consortium, Consortium of the Nobile di Montepulciano wine, Franciacorta Consortium, Consortium for the Protection of the Berici Wines Vicenza, Venice Wines Consortium, Consortium for the Protection of the DOC Bagnoli Wines, Consortium for the Protection of the Montello and Colli Asolani wines.
