On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December 2011 the first Independent Winegrowers' Wine Market opens its doors at the Piacenza Expo. Two days to discover, taste and buy over 1000 Italian and French artisan wines, but also to meet the over 200 winemakers who will be there to personally tell all visitors about their wines.
Going to the Wine Market of the Independent Winegrowers will be like in the old days, when the market was a meeting place where the goods on display were discovered and evaluated, you could ask for information on the trend of the year, buy the products directly from the farmer or, how in this case, by the winemaker.
With only ⬠10 admission (including ad hoc glass), each visitor can follow their own tasting itinerary among the very small high altitude wineries of Val d'Aosta, Trentino, Alto Adige, but also of an unknown Val Camonica; between the Italian bubbles of Prosecco and Franciacorta; among the different expressions of Sangiovese, from Chianti to Brunello di Montalcino, from Maremma to the many small pearls of lesser Tuscany. And still so much south with a large representation of Independent Winemakers from Campania and a good group of Calabrian producers who will make known a Cirò still too unknown.
For lovers of guides and scores, this market is an excellent opportunity to taste many wines that have received the Tre Bicchieri, Cinque Grappoli, Chiocciole, Stelle and very high scores on many other publications.
But what is special about them? They are produced with a strong attachment to the territory, the result of the patient daily work of men and women who grow their own grapes, transform it in their cellars and take care of the sale. Artisan wines that make our country great in the world.
The tastings are open on Saturday 3 December from 13 to 21 and Sunday 4 December from 10 to 18, on Saturday morning the event opens with a round table on the theme "Identity and role of the winemaker in the globalization scenario" . In fact, there are many changes that the global network of exchanges is asking of the winemakers and the agricultural and artisan world. These are changes that inevitably also affect the final product that reaches consumers' tables. The program is enriched by thematic tastings that will allow you to discover old wines and particular wine-growing areas.
The Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers thanks the sponsors ShinEtsu, Rastal, Sugherificio Piemontese, Driade and Rajapack for their precious support to the first edition of the Piacenza Expo Wine Market and the Province of Piacenza.
