THE BEST ITALIAN WINES by Luca Maroni

  • 23/01/2014

The event for four days will exhilarate the Capital with the scents of the best nectars in Italy

Sensofwine changes name but not the content. The event created by Luca Maroni, in Rome from 6 to 9 February at the Monumental Complex of Santo Spirito in Sassia, does not lose its soul turning into I MIGLIORI VINI ITALIANI (THE BEST ITALIAN WINES).

The goal is to make the event more accessible already from the name and tie it with a direct line to the historic YEARBOOK OF THE BEST ITALIAN WINES, a guide published annually for 21 years by Maroni and from which the more than 80 exhibitors present at the event are selected.

Even in 2014, many are the planned events and tastings that will characterize this edition.

It starts on Thursday, February 6, with the Opening Gala, which will take to the stage of the Conciliazione Auditorium the producers who stood out for the excellent quality of their wines. The show goes from the musical strains of Andrea Bocelli of last year to the RealEyes dance by Leonardo Fumarola who will perform in an unusual and advanced artistic project of aerial dance. The choreography, accompanied by a specially created soundtrack, will be inspired by the world of wine and, especially, by the moment of decanting and by the interweaving of feelings that wine evokes during tasting.

The evening will continue at the historic Monumental Complex of Santo Spirito in Sassia, where guests will be greeted by the clowns doctors of the Andrea Tudisco Association for the protection of the rights to health of children, who will distribute the glasses for the tasting of over 300 wines present at event.

This is just the beginning. Wine is always on top in the tasting sessions guided by Luca Maroni in the days of Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday, February 9 that will see some wineries as protagonists: in particular, Sunday will be dedicated to the tasting of wines of Enoteca Regionale dell’Umbria, presented by Luca Maroni and Riccardo Cotarella, oenologist and consultant of international repute. For the first time the tasting will be translated into the Italian Sign Language by an interpreter of the Silis Group Association, with the aim to raise awareness and appreciation also in the deaf community of the world of production and wine tasting. An interpretation service in the Italian Sign Language will also be available for the whole day.

The world of wine will find its expression also in the areas of food and art: in effect, the public will have the opportunity to appreciate even some gastronomic delights: from meats to coffee, from cream to truffle broccoli.

In addition to the translation into the Italian Sign Language, here are the novelties of this year: you can buy tickets for the Opening Gala with the opportunity to all lovers to attend the award ceremony; the BioBar by Casale Baldetti, will present a catering point to enjoy gastronomic delicacies also for vegetarians, combined with the various types of wines. Extracts of wine will be the tools used by the "Vinarella" Maurizia Gentili, an artist from Piacenza that, by changing the nectar of Bacchus into colors, will paint true artworks.

Visitors, about 8,000 those of the previous edition, with the purchase of the ticket will take home, besides the glass and the experience of tasting of THE BEST ITALIAN WINES, even the cupholders pockets made by hand specially for the event by Made in Carcere, the social Cooperative for the reintegration of Women Inmates in the workforce.
