From 5th to 7th June, the Charles V Castle of Lecce hosts the second edition of Roséxpo: the Rosé wines of Negroamaro of the Salento meet rosé from Italy and abroad. About 150 are the wines for tasting. A very rich program of cultural events and tastings.
It takes place in Lecce from 5th to 7th June, the second edition of Roséxpo, the international exhibition of rosé wines organized by Degusto Salento, the first association that brings together synergistically the best Salento producers of Negroamaro, with the support of the Puglia Region – rural policies and development area – and the Town of Lecce. The wines are about 150, coming from all over the country and from abroad, for tasting on Saturday 6th and Sunday, June 7th from 6 to 11 pm at one of the most significant monuments of Lecce, the Charles V Castle, in the heart of the town: you can enter with a ticket costing 10 euro, glass included.
But the program of Roséxpo starts as early as Friday, June 5th at 6 pm at Malcandrino Food and Events of Monteroni of Lecce: in a completely carved into the stone venue, among oak barrels, a round table will take place, with the aim to take stock of the situation of Italian rosé wines production and of the prospects of foreign markets. The title is: "The Rosé Revolution: from Bardolino Chiaretto to Negroamaro del Salento, crossing the whole Italy" (among the speakers, some prominent names of the panorama of Rosé wine like Franco Cristoforetti, president of the Consortium for the Protection of Bardolino Chiaretto, and the producers Sara Carbone, from Basilicata, Luigi Cataldi Madonna, from Abruzzo, and Damiano Calò, from Salento, besides Alfredo Maizza, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Salento).
The full program of Roséxpo 2015 includes a series of side events. At the Castle two seminars will take place, on Saturday dedicated to the territories of rosé wine and on Sunday to the rosé sparkling wines. Both tastings (reservation at the number 389 6438195) see as conductors Giuseppe Baldassarre, member of the national teaching commission of the Italian Sommelier Association, and Francesco Muci, responsible for Puglia of the Slow Wine Guide, published by Slow Food. For the press, instead, a tasting room inside the Castle of Charles V was reserved.
The courtyard of the Castle comes alive, too, in the name of rosé wine and food attractions. Here, both on Saturday and Sunday night, from 8 to 8:30 pm, the Med Cooking School of Ceglie Messapica, directed by Antonella Ricci, proposes its "interpretations of gourmet sandwich" in the name of the excellent local cuisine. On Saturday evening, at 8:30 pm, an aperitif with rosé wines of the Women of Wine Association of Puglia is planned, accompanied by the presentation of "Passport of Bacchus in Rosé", a project for the selection of high fashion clothes dedicated to rosé wines.
Other moments of Roséxpo 2015hey are dedicated to art, music and publishing. On Saturday, June 6th the exhibition "Phisys" by Lorenzo Madaro opens at the Castle Charles V, with works by various artists involved in the investigation on nature and its facets. Also on Saturday, at 8 pm, there is a " band raid" of the festival "Bands in the South", present in Roséxpo with expressions of youth bands from around the area, the street bands of recent social formation of social bands. The cultural calendar Sunday is enriched at 8 pm, with a space dedicated to the national festival of the book "Tuglie Meets", with the presentation of the book: "Mangia come parli" by Cinzia Scaffidi, vice president of Slow Food Italy.
Other opportunities of meeting with rosé wines extend the old town of Lecce, where restaurants and wine bars, in the "Roséxpo food points", they will offer an aperitif with rosé wines of the member companies of Degusto Salento.
