Piacenza Wine Fair inaugurates an area dedicated to oil producers

The Piacenza Wine Fair will host an area dedicated to artisan producers of extra virgin olive oil . The event, scheduled in Piacenza from 18 to 20 November 2023 , will therefore see its offer enriched with a section where the protagonists will be typical and quality oils. The market exhibition will be an opportunity for visitors to taste and buy oil from the most renowned Italian regions directly from producers. Pillar of the Mediterranean diet, Italian olive oil is one of the products capable of best expressing the values that make made in Italy agri-food a valuable reference in Europe and in the world: in the 2021-2022 vintage they were produced 3.4 million tons, distributed in the Italian market and abroad, mainly in the United States, Germany, France, Japan and Canada. “Considering the ever-increasing attention towards quality productions and given the promotional work that Piacenza Expo carries out by supporting the diffusion of the culture of Italian native and organic productions, it seemed to us a natural outlet to insert a collateral exhibition dedicated to olive growing – he declares Alessandra Bottani , event manager -. In our country, EVO oil is obtained from over 500 varieties of olives, each with unique characteristics, linked to the locality and region of origin, a production that places Italy in second place in the world rankings. Furthermore, there are more and more wineries that combine the production of wine with that of yellow gold : two excellences of the Belpaese that are part of our history, two symbols of Italian agri-food that are among our best ambassadors in the world”. To date, the event already has over 200 confirmed wineries , representing 19 Italian regions and 55 provinces as well as some foreign realities . However, the innovative format of this edition provides for a maximum number of producers present , 300 to be exact, to ensure the quality of the proposals and an ideal exhibition size for both producers and visitors. Interested companies can apply by filling out the form on the website www.fieradeivini.it ; the requests received will be evaluated, subject to availability, by the technical committee of the event, which has seen the entry of two new members: Vito Intini , President of ONAV - National Organization of Wine Tasters, and Roberto Donadini , President of FISAR - Italian Federation of Sommeliers, Hoteliers and Restaurateurs. Two professionals who with their skills further enrich the event and the oenological proposal it conveys with new perspectives , guaranteeing a 360° vision in a more effective way. They join the Committee Cristina Micheloni, Antonello Maietta and Fosca Tortorelli.
