Only Wine Festival, the only national exhibition dedicated to the producers with less than 40 years, the wineries with less than 15 years of history and those up to 7 hectares of vines.
An event created by young people to give visibility to other young people, scheduled for 13th to 15th June in Città di Castello, in the most beautiful locations in the town.
Three days of free and guided tastings by AIS, food combinations, in–depth workshops, animations on the topic. Specific moments will be dedicated to food & wine operators for b2b meetings and the highly successful marriages of food and wine of quality will not lack. Special Rest–O Wine Menus will, in effect, be offered every evening at the Bufalini School by young chefs of excellence, whose dishes will be paired to selected wines from the participating wineries, or in some participating restaurants in Città di Castello, which can be found on the website: www.onlywinefestival.it.
A TASTE OF THE PROGRAM
Inaugurating the program of the festival, on
Friday, 13th June, at 5:30 p.m., the conference "Generations in a Glass", on the theme of the relationship among young people and wine, made so difficult because of the modern habit of fast food, of the attitude rooted in the wine market according to which, too often, the label talks more than the product, of the wrong message that helps to demonize wine in favor of other "spirits" far more guilty of the so–called Saturday night bloodsheds. The convention is signed by the
Savings Banks of Umbria and Agriventure, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group company specialized in agribusiness, for which Only Wine Festival is an important opportunity to promote Umbria and the conference is an interesting comparison moment to the highest levels.
Definitely rich is the
program of tastings organized in collaboration with the Italian Association of Sommeliers AIS and guided by expert sommeliers. A journey through Italy, at the edge of its wines, comfortably seated in the
Hall of Mirrors at the Bufalini Palace.
Even the tasting tables located in various locations of the event represent an ideal trip in the world of wine, Italian and international. In the Cloister of San Domenico, in effect, there will be for tasting bottles from all over the world: from Georgia, as a guest of honor, but also from California, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, France, Germany, Austria and Spain. Thanks to the collaboration with the
Friends of the Tuscan Cigar Club, will be present at the Podestà Palace, a vast exhibition of spirits to be enjoyed in combination with cigars.
On Sunday 15th at 12:30 a.m., presentation of the guide
"Great wines at low cost prices: a guide against crisis to the best italian labels" by the journalist and wine expert
Luciano Pignataro, published by Bur Rizzoli. To talk there will be journalist and sommelier Fabio Panci and the brand marketing manager of the Pomaio winery Marco Rossi.
GEORGIA – For its first edition, Only Wine Festival has chosen to host Georgia to let the public know to the Italian public its wine and its producers, aware of the tradition and the long history of winemaking. Overlooking the Dead Sea and protected by the mountains of the Caucasus, Georgia has a mild climate that has always favored the production of wine. Today many manufacturers, alongside the most modern winemaking techniques, which allow them to obtain the most suitable wines to the international market, the old techniques whose fermentation takes place in kveveri, the earthenware jars, also of large dimensions, put in the ground. In the jars, together with must, the skins are put in varying percentages, depending on the vinification method used. The wine made in this way has an alcohol content that is higher than ours, the acidity and tannic taste are higher, too. Today in the country there are over 50,000 hectares of vineyards and about 500 native grape varieties, which produce an annual output of more than 150 million liters of nectar. Among the various types of Georgian wine, the most important ones are white: Tsinandali, derived from the blend of Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane grapes; Rkatsiteli, obtained from the homonymous grape variety; Pirosmani, a semi–sweet wine, and Mtsvane, a semi–dry wine made from the grape varieties of the same name; while, among the red ones, the most common are Saperavi, a wine of harmonious taste and pleasant hardness; Kindzmarauli, a semi–sweet wine made from Saperavi grapes; Mukuzani, a dry wine from Saperavi grapes grown with Mukuzani, in Kakheti; Khvanchkara, a semi–sweet wine made from Muszhuretuli and Alexandruli grapes grown in the Racha–Lechkumi region. The main areas of cultivation of the vine in Georgia are the regions of Kakheti (with 52% of the vineyards), Imereti (22%), Kartli (11%), Racha–Lechkumi (4–5%), Guria, Samegrelo and Adjara (2–3%).
The presence of Georgian wines at Only Wine Festival is, therefore, a unique tasting experience for the audience of lovers and an interesting opportunity for reflection and knowledge.
