Cusumano , one of the most appreciated wine producers at a national and international level, presents the new vintages of the Cusumano and Alta Mora estates at the 58th edition of Vinitaly .
Specifically, at the Verona event, Cusumano will debut the 2023 vintage of Alta Mora Arrigo Etna Bianco , the new Carricante cru from Contrada Arrigo. Thanks to its location at 610 meters above sea level and northeast exposure, Contrada Arrigo enjoys a constant breeze. Its ancient soil, rich in organic matter and composed of volcanic sands dating back to 1180, combined with the wide temperature ranges, generates a slow ripening process that allows the Alta Mora Arrigo 2023 to retain all its freshness and flavor.
"The unique feature of this terroir is that it retains spring water more than others," comments Diego Cusumano , winemaker and owner, with his brother Alberto, of the Sicilian winery of the same name, " thus generating generous vine vigor. As the season progresses, water availability diminishes, allowing the vines to focus solely on ripening the grapes. This is precisely why ," adds Cusumano, " we call Arrigo a 'wise terroir.'" Because it allows itself to be watered only when it is most useful, and then becomes more moderate, allowing the plant to concentrate the richness of its leaves in the grapes."
The show will also be an opportunity to discover the 2022 vintage of the Brut 700slm . A classic mountain method made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards located 700 meters above sea level. Vinification and fermentation take place at a controlled temperature, using only the free-run must to preserve the acidity that is essential for its longevity. After five months, secondary fermentation in the bottle begins, followed by 36 months of aging on the lees.
But that's not all: the new white wines Angimbè Tenuta Ficuzza 2025 and Jalè Vigneto del Ventaglio 2024 will also be featured in Verona. The former is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, with two typical mountain terroir varietals, blended at Tenuta Ficuzza in a unique setting. The latter is an intense, fresh, and elegant Chardonnay cru, whose aromas are fully developed thanks to the altitude and temperature range.
