On 26 and 27 July in Felina (Reggio Emilia) two days in the name of slow living
On 26 and 27 July 2014 in Felina Castelnovo ne’ Monti (Reggio Emilia) the usual appointment with the
Cittaslow Festival of Street Food, the event dedicated to good taste and fine living that every summer brings in the municipality of Reggio many fans from all over Italy.
The event is one of the ones selected by
ANCI for Expo 2015, a collection of initiatives throughout Italy to promote the Italian agri–food industry ahead of the big event of 2015. We will talk about food to 360°.
Besides the traditional presence of the Italian Cittaslow represented by their excellent agri–food and the
Slow Food Reggio Emilia Earth Market, this new edition will be characterized as always by the presence of Street Food, all those foods ready for a quick and immediate consumption, standing or sitting, or even while you are walking.
Around the table we are going to eat a steaming Polenta Stiada, served on a platter as usual, and for years the undisputed symbol of the event. But it will also be a duel between vegetarian and meat dishes: the traditional vinaigrette enhanced with hummus chickpea against sausage with caramelized onion, basmati rice with vegetables versus roast shoulder, farro salad against platter of cold cuts and cheese.
And, moreover, fried dumplings, Necci, fried cod sandwiches with flavors of the
Cittaslow, Piadina, mountain Erbazzone, and many other proposals for the gluten intolerant.
The event would continue its collaboration with the
AIC Italian Celiac Association with many street foods that can be enjoyed even by those who have an intolerance to gluten. All this can be eaten accompanied by beer and wine from Emilia.
Also present: the Appennino Tosco Emiliano National Park which will be represented by a group of companies that participate in the
"Basket of Parks", a project of
Soft Economy in the Parks and Protected Areas of the Emilian Apennines. It is a network of
agri–food and tourism companies that will aim to enhance the close relationship and synergy with the territory of origin. Traders will be engaged in activities of qualification and promotion, aiming to capture new markets and targets, within a single basket of products and services, with the aim of proposing a "food landscape" of high value and to present it to a wider public, including through presentations, show cooking, meetings.
Another important "green" presence will be the participation in the
Mobile Green Power project, which will give the possibility
to produce power simply by pedalling. The design and philosophy of MGP arise from the need for sustainability in consumption based on two fundamental principles: to produce electricity in an environmentally sustainable way and to consume as little as possible, combining ecology, environment and show ... with a slogan "movement is Energy"!
Unusual protagonist will then sheep, with art workshops on the production of carded wool and dyeing tests and chassis with the Association for the Recovery of Cornigliese sheep wool.
On the way we will meet not only food but also exhibitions, the ancient games promoted by UISP, the market of works by the skills of art craftsmen and a lot of good music at the hands of the street bands that over the two days will enliven streets and squares in Felina.
Saturday night: "The Night of the Bands" an event with the participation of the Complex Band "G. Verdi" of Moglia (MN) and the "Città di Scandiano" (RE) Band, Sunday evening: concert of swing music of the 40s and 50s with Bixio with the Simpatiche Canaglie.
The event is organized in collaboration with local associations and the patronage of the Province of Reggio Emilia, Emilia Romagna Region, Appennino Tosco Emiliano National Park , Mountain Union of Municipalities of the Reggio Apennines.
The Cittaslow Festival of Street Food, in addition to having received recognition for Ecofesta is also in the path ORI DELLA TERRA REGGIANA proposed by the Province of Reggio Emilia.
