Ciliegiolo d’Italia 2015

The charming town of Narni, in the province of Terni, will host the first edition of Ciliegiolo d’Italia, an event dedicated to one of the most famous native grape varieties in Italy.


On Saturday, 16th May and Sunday, 17th May 2015, in the San Domenico Auditorium, a two–day event dedicated to this particular and ancient native grape variety will take place, which will be presented to a wider audience of enthusiasts and experts in the sector through tastings and discussions.

The event is sponsored and organized by the Association of Producers of Ciliegiolo of Narni, seven local companies together for the promotion and development of native territorial wine productions, in particular of the type called "Ciliegiolo di Narni".

The event is designed to make the public know the Ciliegiolo grape variety with the tasting of varietal wines from all over the country: 40 will be Italian companies present, thanks to which you can compare various Ciliegiolo types, grasp the similarities and appreciate their diversity, dictated by the climate, the soil and the hand of man.

The two–day event will be an important moment in the seminars to be held in Palazzo Eroli and that will be led by leading industry journalists: Antonio Boco, who on Saturday is holding a seminar–tasting on Ciliegiolo in Italy, and Giampaolo Gravina, who on Sunday will lead a seminar comparing Ciliegiolo types from Umbria.

Thanks to Slow Food Southern Umbria Lands, you will learn about and try some Presidia, small niche and excellent products, the pride of the beautiful Italy.

But food is not all! Both on Saturday and on Sunday, in effect, to enliven the festival there will be cooking shows, to give voice to the great culinary culture that characterizes the Umbria region.

The Association of Producers of Ciliegiolo of Narni is composed of the companies: Leonardo Bussoletti (whose owner, Leonardo Bussoletti, is the Chairman of the Association), Fattoria Giro di Vento of Az. Agr. Mazzocchi, Tenuta Casale Milli, Tenuta Fabrucciano, Agraria Ponteggia, Cantina Sandonna, Ruffo della Scaletta. These seven companies producing Ciliegiolo di Narni in single–variety have joined a specification that certifies the adoption of certain production standards that are more stringent than the IGT specification and are characterized by the use of a stamp on the label.
