Calaonda , the new Librandi label, will be one of the protagonists that the Cirò Marina winery will present to the press and sector operators during Vinitaly 2023, the international wine and spirits exhibition scheduled in the Verona city from 2 to 5 April . The reference, on the market since 27 February 2023, completes the already renowned line of "Gli Internazionali", alongside the Critone Calabria IGT Bianco and the rosé Terre Lontane. Its debut, which coincides with the beginning of summer, is in perfect agreement with the underlying meaning of the name, fresh and summery. Calaonda , in fact, refers to a very pleasant wine, rich and dynamic in the glass: a mess! In the Calabrian way. " The word "Cala" - explains Raffaele Librandi - pays homage to our territory, Calabria, and brings to mind images of natural beauties and pleasant places. "Onda" instead enhances the idea of movement, an enveloping red, very pleasant but at the same time rich and dynamic. The assonance with the term "baraonda", then, brings to mind the idea of a rich and pleasant wine, with a young and immediate soul. " " Calaonda Calabria Rosso IGT is a fresh, fruity and enveloping red, which combines the character of the territory with the appeal of international vines. " This wine - says Paolo Librandi - is in fact born from the union of Magliocco (50%) and Merlot (50 %), in a modern interpretation that enhances its sweetness and fruity component, giving life to a soft wine with delicate tannins. It is produced in the area of Strongoli and Rocca di Neto and Casabona where the soil is calcareous and clayey. Vinification takes place in steel with maceration for 5-7 days and then proceeds with refinement, again in steel with a stay of a few months in the bottle before being marketed". The Librandi Winery , a Calabrian company born in the 1950s which has has brought the flavors of Cirò to the world, making its beauties known but above all the most typical varieties, this time giving us a wine that represents the encounter between the character of the native grapes and the pleasantness of the international vines grown in Calabria. the prerogative of the "Gli Internazionali" line, within which Calaonda is placed, next to Critone and Terre Lontane. The three wines share price, basic philosophy and graphic features. The same image that characterizes the label is intended to represent continuity of these three references, also at a graphic level.
