The event dedicated to Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero launches the Albeisa forest project

The event dedicated to Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero launches the Albeisa forest project, who will present a plan for reforestation in Kenya.

“Nebbiolo Prima”, the event that brings to the stage the most famous expressions of the grape variety of Piedmont will be dedicated to environmental sustainability in Africa.

The preview of the new vintages of Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero, now in its fifth edition, will be held from 11th to 16t May, at Palazzo Mostre e Congressi in Alba. The presentation of the three great wines of the Langhe area becomes, this year, the opportunity to introduce to the public of the international press, the recent initiative of Albeisa for the conservation of the tropical forest in Kenya. The project of the association, created to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the historic bottle of Alba, aims to fund the reinstatement of 4,000 trees in the Kenyan area of Bore, thanks to the support of the Tree–Nation organization.

Ninety journalists from twentyfive nations will gather in the heart of the Langhe to taste the vintages Barolo 2010 and reserve 2008, Barbaresco 2011 and reserve 2009, Roero 2011 and reserve 2010. There will be over 230 companies of Langa and Roero, for a total of nearly 500 wines based on Nebbiolo. These numbers make of “Nebbiolo Prima” one of the most important international events in the industry.

The event will last five days, with a renewed formula, which aims to meet the different needs of participants, allowing everyone to choose between a light program and a more intensive one. In the first case, the journalists will participate, in the morning, in blind tastings of wine for maximum a wine per manufacturer and will visit the wineries in the afternoon. Those who choose the second option, however, have the opportunity to extend the tastings and to try more than a label for each company, but to visit only one winery.

In this way, guests will learn about the wines, the faces and the places of the Langhe, where the terroir is presented as a mosaic of expressions that blend philosophy and passion of every single family of vinegrowers.

Albeisa was founded in 1973 from an idea of Renato Ratti with the aim of identifying through a unique container, a bottle of unique and special shape, the best productions of Langa. It is a non–profit organization, whose main purpose is the promotion and enhancement of the Alba wines.
