Autochtona turns 18: many news related to the prize and the great tasting stand

There is no mention of a real restart for the national forum of indigenous wines, scheduled for 18 and 19 October as always in Bolzano , because in fact Autochtona has never completely stopped. As the best wines come to life from the most difficult soils, Autochtona has been able to renew itself and improve itself in the most complicated year: 2020.

At a time when everyone was standing still, Autochtona was there and took the opportunity of the absence of the tasting counter to revolutionize and enhance the "Autoctoni che passion!" transforming it into the " Autochtona Award ". 500 nominated wines from over 350 producers from all over Italy, two days of blind tastings by an international jury of great prestige and professionalism and the final award ceremony that decreed the winners of 11 categories.

A formula that will be proposed again this year, including the " jury of the stars " which returns as protagonist thanks to the panel of expert tasters, wine writers and buyers from all over the world, awarding the winning wines on the afternoon of Tuesday 19 October in live streaming on the channels social network of Fiera Bolzano. Two new features will also enrich the list of existing categories: "Best Ancestral Method Wine" and "Best Orange Wine".

To this will be added the large tasting counter , safely managed by AIS sommeliers from South Tyrol, which will also give enthusiasts and operators in the sector the opportunity to taste the many wines that are already applying. For the public it will be an opportunity to get to know the biodiversity present in the Italian wine scene up close. Finally, there will be a rich calendar of masterclasses conducted by industry experts, which will take place during the two days of the event.

Autochtona has now become a point of reference for the enhancement of the rich universe of Italian native varieties. "Last year there were so many producers who sent their samples from all over Italy, demonstrating their belief in Autochtona even in such a particular moment, but above all by sending us a very important message: the biodiversity of the Italian vineyard must continue to have a space where you can express yourself - explains Thomas Mur , Director of Fiera Bolzano. - "This is why this year we are more determined than ever in wanting to organize an event even richer in interpreters and wines to be poured into the glasses not only of the jurors, who then they will have the difficult task of evaluating them, but also of sector operators and enthusiasts who will decide to come to Autochtona on 18 and 19 October ".

Autochtona is organized by Fiera Bolzano and will take place concurrently with Hotel , an international fair dedicated to catering and hôtellerie scheduled until 21 October.
