Autochtona Award 2021: registration for the award has started

After the great success of the 2020 edition, the Autochtona Award , organized by Fiera Bolzano, returns again this year in its renewed formula: at the beginning of October expert tasters , wine writers and buyers , both Italian and international, will gather in Bolzano to judge the numerous labels from all over Italy, capable of interpreting the fascinating universe of indigenous wines. A world made up of numerous varieties that have often found a home within small ranges and intimately linked to vines that otherwise would have risked extinction.

"We are really excited to officially kick off registrations for the award which represents the highlight of the new edition of Autochtona" explains Thomas Mur , Director of Fiera Bolzano. "The new formula of the Award, which debuted last year to the appreciation of producers, allows us to enhance the great indigenous heritage present in our country with even more force".

The tastings will take place in two sessions, strictly blind, which will allow the judges to draw up the list of finalists in contention for the Autochtona Awards in the categories " Best White Wine ", " Best Rosé Wine ", " Best Red Wine ", " Best Bubbles "," Best Sweet Wine "to which from this year" Best Ancestral Method Wine "and" Best Orange Wine "are added. Confirmed the special awards " Terroir " and " Best Producer Under 40 ", the latter in collaboration with Vinarius, the Association of Italian wine bars. To these awards are added the historic awards belonging to Tasting Lagrein , an exhibition reserved for wines produced with the well-known native red grape variety of Alto Adige, in the categories " Rosato ", " Classico " and " Riserva ". An undoubtedly demanding task in light of the great heterogeneity and biodiversity of the Italian vineyard, which derives great strength and distinctiveness from the richness of its varieties.

Furthermore, this year the wines featured in the Autochtona Award will also be present in a large tasting counter at Fiera Bolzano , managed in total safety by the AIS sommeliers from South Tyrol, which will take place on 18 and 19 October on the occasion of the 18th edition of Autochtona .

The proclamation of the Autochtona Awards will be streamed live on the social channels of Fiera Bolzano on the afternoon of Tuesday 19 October : the final act of an edition that will have as its highlights, in addition to the tasting counter, an intense masterclass program to deepen the most current issues of this sector.

Each producer can register two different labels for the Autochtona Award 2021, specifying the category to which they belong.
