Anteprima Sagrantino – Sagrantino Grand Prix

On 23th and 24th February, the event organized by the Consortium for the Protection of the Montefalco Wines will present to the press and to insiders the 2011 vintage of the great Umbrian red wine



It will be a special debut, the one of Sagrantino, Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin among the most prestigious in Italy, for the first time the protagonist of the great national winemaking previews with "Anteprima Sagrantino 2011".



On 23 and 24 February 2015, during the event organized by the Consortium for the Protection of the Montefalco Wines, over 20 producers–partners will officially present to the press and to industry operators the 2011 vintage of the great Umbrian red wine along with the other gems of the territory: Montefalco Rosso DOC 2012, Montefalco Rosso DOC Riserva 2011 and Montefalco Bianco DOC.



"Anteprima Sagrantino", hosted at the Cloister of St. Augustine and in the beautiful Board Room made available by the Municipality of Montefalco, will be an opportunity to tell the recently harvested vintage and to award the Sagrantino Grand Prix, the scholarship for sommeliers established in 2007 by the Consortium in collaboration with the AIS, the Italian Sommelier Association, to develop the technical knowledge of the wines produced in the area of Montefalco.



For the presentation of the special 2011 vintage, the Consortium for the Protection of the Montefalco Wines has promoted the "Etichetta d’autore 2011" initiative: a competition for young cartoonists, Italian and foreign, who operate throughout the country. The winning work, awarded on 23rd February in Montefalco, will become the celebratory label of the 2011 vintage of Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG.

Great attention, within the event, also for food and wine from Umbria. A committee will select the restaurateurs who have excelled in the preparation of the best dishes made with Sagrantino and paired with Montefalco wines for the "Sagrantino nel Piatto" competition. In addition to the specialized press, "Anteprima Sagrantino" will welcome, thanks to the collaboration with La Strada del Sagrantino association, also all operators of the wine and food industry and restaurateurs in themselves through packages designed ad hoc for them.

2015 SAGRANTINO GRAND PRIX



The 2015 edition of the Best Sommelier of Sagrantino National Trophy will take place on Monday, 23rd February 2015 in Montefalco. The competition, now in its seventh edition, is intended to help to raise the profile of the Sommelier profession and to increase the knowledge and dissemination of the Sagrantino grape variety. Interested parties can find here the regulations and the application form to be filled in and sent back to the addresses indicated no later than 9th February 2015.
