Ammura , the Etna estate of Tommasi Family Estates, returns to Wine Paris to showcase the volcano's most authentic soul and present Liuni Etna Rosso DOC 2022 Contrada Alboretto-Chiuse del Signore , alongside the new 2023 vintages of Ammura Etna Rosso DOC and Etna Bianco DOC. This return marks a further step in the Tommasi family's journey to promote Etna, increasingly recognized for its ability to interpret complex territories with a measured, distinctive, and contemporary style.
Born on the northeastern slopes of Mount Etna, in the municipality of Linguaglossa, Ammura is the expression of a primordial landscape, where the power of the volcano meets the light and influence of the sea. A project rooted in the vision of Tommasi Family Estates and the desire to give voice to one of Italy's most fascinating terroirs through a respectful, sensitive, and rigorous approach.
Wine Paris marks the official debut of Liuni Etna Rosso DOC 2022 Contrada Alboretto – Chiuse del Signore , a new interpretation that comes from a single historic district located on the north-east side of the volcano, at 650 meters above sea level, in one of Etna's most suitable contexts for Nerello Mascalese.
Here, the vineyards are rooted in ancient lava soils, rich in rock and minerals, with black sands and volcanic stratifications that ensure excellent drainage, low yields, and great expressive precision. The marked temperature variations, combined with constant ventilation, help preserve freshness, aromatic finesse, and tension.
"With Liuni, we wanted to reveal another facet of Etna, starting with a single district capable of expressing with great clarity the elegance and verticality of Nerello Mascalese," says Giancarlo Tommasi, technical director and winemaker of Tommasi Family Estates . "It's a wine born from listening to the terroir and conveying the volcano's energy directly and recognizably in the glass. Today, Etna represents one of the main drivers of Italian wine in domestic and international markets: a territory capable of attracting attention, creating value, and positioning itself strongly thanks to a unique, contemporary identity deeply rooted in its origins."
Ammuira Liuni Etna Rosso DOC is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese , grown at approximately 650 meters above sea level on the northeast slope of the volcano, in the Alboreto-Chiuse del Signore district . The balanced and particularly favorable 2022 vintage allowed for harmonious ripening of the grapes, resulting in an Etna Rosso of great finesse and energy, characterized by a vertical and layered profile. The palate is elegant, dynamic, and harmonious, supported by silky tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides momentum and a long finish. The limited production of just 2,500 bottles underscores its artisanal character and strong territorial identity.
With the presentation of Liuni, Ammura continues its research and interpretation of the Etna terroir, adding a new voice to its existing labels, capable of engaging with the present while respecting the soul of the place. A story that intertwines nature, culture, and winemaking vision, bringing to Wine Paris an increasingly recognizable signature in the Etna wine scene.
