WORLD PIZZA DAY 2026: WHEN PIZZA MEETS THE RIGHT WINE. LOAL CREATES THE PERFECT PAIRING

On January 17th, World Pizza Day is celebrated around the world, a day dedicated to one of the most beloved symbols of Made in Italy.

LOAL, the new winemaking project from the Trentino-based group led by Gaierhof, is taking this opportunity to share a different—and surprisingly natural—way of pairing pizza and wine.

If pizza is about conviviality, sharing, and instant pleasure, LOAL was born with the same vocation : contemporary, direct wines that complement food without overpowering it, enhancing every ingredient and every moment of consumption. Precisely for this reason, on World Pizza Day 2026, LOAL presents itself as the ideal companion to pizza , overcoming the cliché that it is exclusively linked to beer.

LOAL is founded on a clear vision: to combine freshness , drinkability, and naturalness with a moderate alcohol content. This common thread has run through the company's history since the 1970s, when Luigi Togn, founder of Gaierhof, recognized the potential of an aromatic and light wine like Moscato Giallo, inspired by the Süßreserve technique. Nearly fifty years later, that same vision finds a new expression in LOAL: a contemporary, inclusive, and accessible line, designed for those seeking balance and pleasure without excess.

Produced in compliance with the IGT Vigneti delle Dolomiti regulations, the LOAL Moscato, Bianco, and Rosato wines are made from select grapes from the Piana Rotaliana and carefully crafted using naturally fresh bases with low alcohol content. The key step is the addition of unfermented sweet must before bottling, which keeps the alcohol content around 9° and achieves a balanced sweetness (about 15 g/l) that enhances aromas and freshness without altering the wine's integrity.

Characteristics that make LOAL an ideal ally for pizza : From Margherita , where LOAL's freshness and drinkability enhance the sweetness of the tomato and the creaminess of the mozzarella, to richer and more creative pizzas—with vegetables, cured meats, or cheeses—LOAL wine stands out for its balance, immediacy, and versatility. A pairing that speaks the language of the new generations, attentive to taste but also to the style of consumption: informal, authentic, without rigidity.
