Tuscany isn't just told through its landscapes. It's told through the people who live there, the crafts that preserve it, and the culture of food and dining that has perpetuated its identity for centuries. This idea inspired "Te la do' io la Toscana," the new program starring Luisanna Messeri, airing July 1st at 10:00 PM on Food Network, with a repeat on Thursday, July 2nd at around 1:30 PM (channel 33 on digital terrestrial television). It's also available for streaming on discovery.
In the first stop, Luisanna Messeri, accompanied by her inseparable dog Bacco, leads the audience through Maremma, a land of forests, countryside, and sea, where nature still retains its wild character and the landscape tells the story of a frontier Tuscany. A land where biodiversity, agri-food production, culture, and traditions still coexist today, making it one of the region's most recognizable places. From here, a journey begins that, in the upcoming stops, will visit other iconic Tuscan locations, revealing its soul through the people who preserve its heritage every day.
Leading this journey is Luisanna Messeri, for years one of the most authoritative voices in the field of Italian culture, its agricultural and food traditions, and the regions that preserve its identity. The general public first came to know her through "Il Club delle Cuoche," a program she created, wrote, and starred in, which became one of Alice TV's biggest hits. From 2011 to 2020, she was a regular on "La Prova del Cuoco" on Rai 1, entering Italian homes daily with her unmistakable style. Over the years, she has also appeared on Pomeriggio Cinque, Detto Fatto, UnoMattina, and Agorà, combining her television work with that of author, authoring numerous books, including Te la do io la cucina toscana, Una famiglia in cucina, 111 ricette italiane che devi saper cuoco, La cucina del Casale, and Le #stories di Artusi. Today, she continues to be a point of reference on social media, particularly on Facebook and Instagram, where she is followed by a community that exceeds a million followers overall.
Luisanna has also won over a new generation of audiences on social media. In an era where communication seems to need to move ever faster, she continues to choose a different pace. She takes the time to tell, listen, and share, placing the value of slowness back at the center. This unconventional approach has become one of the most recognizable traits of her communication style, and we find it in this program as well, where every encounter and every story is told without haste, leaving room for the people and the places.
When I began to imagine this program, I immediately realized that I didn't want to describe Tuscany through a list of places or products. I wanted to convey its soul. The culture of food and dining became the common thread of the journey, but the true protagonist is the territory . That's why I chose to start in the Maremma. It's a surprising land, one that retains a powerful character and tells the story of a different Tuscany, where the sea, the woods, and the countryside coexist in unique balance. Here, I met extraordinary people like Valeria Piccini, chef of the Caino restaurant in Montemerano, Paolo Fanciulli, a defender of the sea, and many producers who daily preserve a heritage built on hard work, memory, and respect for nature. Through a beekeeper, a winemaker, a farmer, or a fisherman, you can tell the story of much more than a product: you're telling the story of a community, its history, and its landscape. This is the spirit of the program, and it will also be the spirit of the upcoming stages dedicated to other magical places in Tuscany.
The program stands out for its language that transcends traditional tourism or food and wine promotion. Following the thread of food and wine culture, it offers a light-hearted yet profound exploration of Tuscany, where cultural heritage, landscape, and agri-food become one narrative. From the ancient Chiarone customs house, the gateway to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, to Capalbio, Grosseto, and Follonica, the journey intertwines history, environment, premium products, and local identity, offering a unique perspective on a region that continues to surprise.
Alongside the edition broadcast by Food Network, the project also includes a full version, which will be presented on August 4th, thanks to the support of Vetrina Toscana and the Municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, in the suggestive Belvedere Carlo Fruttero Panoramic Terrace, overlooking the walls of the ancient medieval village of Castiglione della Pescaia (Gr), and then continue its journey at the Clorofilla Film Festival, as part of Festambiente in Rispescia (Gr) .
More than a journey through Tuscany's finest products, "Te la do' io la Toscana" is an invitation to slow down, to listen, and to look at the region with fresh eyes. Because behind every landscape, every product, and every table lies a story. And stories, when told with the right amount of time, can leave a lasting impression.
The first episode of Te la do' io la Toscana was supported by Vetrina Toscana.
The program is produced by Bibi Film Tv srl for Warner Bros. Discovery.
